View on Threads ↗“At Ohio Trump rally, I saw a brave woman surrounded by male violence. One b*****d punched her, pulled her hair, and dragged her to the ground. When police officers arrived, I thought they would help her and arrest the attacker. I was wrong. She was led away while Trump cheered on the thugs. …”

The rally scuffle was real. This picture of it was made with AI.
Based on 3 strong and 3 supporting pieces of evidence.
What we found
The picture shows a crowd of angry people in red 'Trump' and 'USA' caps closing in on a person wearing a black shirt that reads 'Release the Epstein Files'. It spread on Threads and X after a rally for Republican candidates in Youngstown, Ohio, on 12 October 2026, shared as a photo of what happened there. The earliest copy Snopes found was a Threads post by the account @two_and_a_half_dachshunds. A SynthID check found the hidden watermark that Google's AI tools add, and in a later post the same account said the image was AI-made and that it had chosen 'a symbolic graphic' instead of real footage. The incident itself did happen: news footage shows a protester in that shirt being grabbed by people in the crowd before officers led them away. The lesson: a real event can still come with a made-up picture, so look for the news footage rather than the most dramatic image.

What we couldn’t establish
Which AI tool or app was used, beyond SynthID pointing to Google's tools. Snopes was still waiting for the account to reply directly. If you know more, tell us.
Bottom line
AI-made: the poster said so, and Google's hidden AI watermark was found, though the event it stands for was real.
