How sure we areVery high

What we found

The short clip shows a plane on an airport apron blowing up after what looks like a missile strike. It was posted on X on 8 October 2026 and on Facebook as new footage of an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, and the X post alone had more than 2.9 million views. The airport really was attacked that month: three Saudi nationals were killed and an aircraft damaged on 8 October, and attacks on 10 and 11 October killed at least 14 people. But Full Fact found this clip is not part of the real footage. It spotted a vehicle behind the wing that shrinks and folds flat, and Meta's AI detection tool found signs of AI in the video. Full Fact rated the claim false. When a real attack is in the news, fake clips of it appear quickly, so check whether trusted news outlets are using the same footage.

None.

How it looksA white vehicle behind the plane's wing seems to shrink and fold flat into the debris as the blast happens. Real objects do not change shape like that.

Detector scores are often wrong, so they never decide a verdict here.

Bottom line

Full Fact found the clip was made with AI and is not footage of the real attacks on Riyadh airport.
