A portable signal-blocking device with aerials standing on a road: real or AI?

MISLEADING

The photo is real, but it is an old product picture. It has nothing to do with Dover.

How sure we areVery high

Based on 1 strong and 2 supporting pieces of evidence.

What we found

This photo shows a portable device for blocking phone signals, standing on a road. On 4 October 2026 an X account shared it saying Kent Police had put signal blockers near the cruise terminal in Dover to stop people live-streaming, and the post passed a million views. Lead Stories found the same picture years earlier: on a Turkish shop's website, with a web address pointing to January 2023, and on a Chinese military equipment site dated 2022. It is a product photo with no link to Dover. Kent Police's own video about the protests, posted on 2 October, did not mention signal jammers, and photos from the 3 October demonstration showed no such device. A real photo can still carry a false story, so search for older copies before trusting the caption.
