AI-MADE

No monkey saved a dog. The clip was made with Meta AI.

How sure we areVery high

Based on 3 strong and 1 supporting pieces of evidence.

What we found

The 10-second clip shows a monkey wading through a flooded village in heavy rain and hauling a dog up onto a floating log. It spread on X, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok in late September and early October 2026, while Thailand was reporting deaths from flooding, and some posts said someone had filmed it in Thailand. One X post with a Thai caption, shared on 27 September, got millions of views. Snopes traced the earliest copy to a Thai Facebook page called Hot Story, where the post was labelled as AI content. The page's owner told Snopes by email that it was made with Meta AI and showed part of the prompt. Snopes rated the video fake. Animal rescue clips that appear during real disasters are a favourite of AI pages, so look for the earliest poster before sharing.

Signs of AI
Yes. Shown below, but not what decided it

The evidence, strongest first

Weak Shown, not relied on

How it looks and soundsExactly 10 seconds long, a one-frame glitch on the dog's leg, objects that appear from nowhere, and sound that does not match the picture.↗
How it looksThe clip lasts exactly 10 seconds, a common length for AI video. For a single frame the dog's front leg turns into a thin black shape. Small blue objects appear on the debris pile only after the camera zooms in, and the dog's paw lands on debris that does not move.

Detector scores are often wrong, so they never decide a verdict here.
